I'll admit it - I am the person that will sit through the entire extended Lord of the Rings Trilogy in one sitting. I love movies. I love losing myself in another world, seeing the world from another's point of view, getting scared, having my heart broken, finding true love, traveling, and getting some new knowledge.
I wish that everyone went to the movies just to see the film. I am getting increasingly disturbed by the number of people that think their life is so important that they have to text message and check emails during a film. If you are that busy, please stay home and wait for the DVD. Patrons pay a lot of money to see a movie in the theatre, not to constantly be distracted by the light from someone's cell phone flashing like a warning beacon.
I have also discovered that the majority of the audience does not believe in whispering either. For some reason, we are all treated to everyone's opinion, question, or non-related statement during the film. Is it really that hard to lean over and whisper to your companion?
In short, audience's need to be more considerate to their fellow viewing members. (Also, as a theatre employee, it wouldn't hurt to throw out your trash as well.)
